For the Amigo-project, STUDIO THO was briefed to create a peaceful yet playful kitchen design, allowing a better connection to the adjacent living room. The new kitchen basically “folds” around an existing wall, creating a more spacious entrance and connection.
A balanced mix of colourblocks, structures and materials creates a playful but not-to-heavy look. Check out some of the special details: superskinny yet superstrong shelves, perforated fronts, grooves milled into oak fronts, slanting shapes of the worktop. And for the practical people among us: the wall cabinet provides plenty of storage space, the worktops are made of solid materials, the lighting makes sure every surface needed is well lit and offers the possibility to add some extra ambience.
About Durat in the design
Do you see the nicely speckled worktop? That’s Durat Palace DP007 Martini, a terrazzo solid surface material, consisting of 30% recycled acrylate. You also recognize this material in the superskinny, yet superstrong shelves and low splashback at the induction cooktop.
Even the windowsills have been made of this material. In this way we have realized a beautiful bespoke kitchen design, where literally not an inch of Durat has been wasted.
