Durat solid surface is made in Finland. It is an excellent choice for kitchen countertops, vanity units, sinks and several other bespoke furniture when distinctive appearance, durability and easy maintenance are required.

Together with two other Finnish design brands, Finarte and Johanna Gullichsen we have built an imaginative world of games and recreation to touch, play and enjoy, to discover the bliss of design.

”Don't forget to Play!”, said Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Throughout history, Finnish design has been driven by bold experimentation, exploration, and testing. This open and curious way of approaching and examining life has led to unique and practical solutions, which also has been the key to the Finnish well-being resulting in the happiest country in the world. Play creates space for curiosity, mistakes, and surprises.

In the Playroom, from textiles to furniture, materials become a medium for artistic exploration.

Durat Circular service: towards the closed material cycle

Durat has implemented the principles of the circular economy since its founding more than thirty years ago. We commit to buy back old Durat furniture and material offcuts from fabrication. Any surface damage can be refurbished with a light sanding.

Durat's first EPD environmental report is certified

An Environmental Product Declaration, or EPD, is a document which transparently communicates the environmental performance or impact of any product or material over its lifetime. EPD's signal a manufacturer's commitment to measuring and reducing the environmental impact of its products and services and report these impacts in a transparent way.

When developing an EPD, the environmental performance of the product shall be described from a life cycle perspective by carrying out a life cycle assessment (LCA) of the product. The product's environmental impacts have therefore been collected and calculated from raw material acquisition to final disposal.

According to the calculations made for the environmental report, Durat's carbon footprint is 3,57 kgCO2e.

We make sustainable desirable

Durat is manufactured by crushing recycled post-industrial waste plastic into granulates. This creates a distinctive, vivid 3D surface that is sumptuously silky and warm to touch. The material is then cast into sheets as well as various bathtubs and sinks.
